Left Brain, Right Brain

Begone, you insistent Left Brain monologues!

Out of my mind!

Hush!

Retire to a place away from me,

for now if not forever.

No, not forever.

You serve me well—

but too insistently, for here's the thing:

your constant clamour for attention,

daytime or even during the moonlit midnight drifting

of non-sleep—

that noise of yours drowns out the sound I long to hear:

the silence of your unassuming, deep partner,

the Right Brain.

When it emerges into the light

the Right Brain reveals all:

the oneness.

the merging,

the silent euphoria of universal love.

The merging.

The end of separateness and loneliness.

No striving is required,

except for the strength it takes to nudge aside

and silence the chatter of that cacophonous

Left Brain.

Banish it

and the reality of existence becomes clear.
