In the Details
Be specific.
Reference the details of the day,
of your life, of everything.
The squirrel, though not exotic,
is representative of your moments.
Ditto the tiny soon-to-bloom
branchlets of flowers on the Japanese tree lilac.
Don't generalize about "lunch" or "dinner".
Instead say the annual hamburger
dressed in Korean flavours.
Say burrata, spread on
home-baked flatbreads,
with oven-roasted cherry tomatoes
whose caramelized sugars surprise the burrata
with tart and sweet.
Say cranking the oven to 500 degrees
at 7 in the morning
to bake the mongrel seeded sourdough loaf
that rose all night in the cool of the fridge,
wrapped in its linen shroud.
Be specific.
Love is in the details.
