Keep looking.
We give up the search too soon
and from then on whine, "It can't be found."
We don't even have the grace to particularize it
by saying, more accurately, "I can't find it."
We envy those who have found it
and impugn their motives,
their methods,
and even their find,
terming it not the right "it" at all
but some ersatz non-treasure that they have settled for—
unlike us, who continue to maintain
that it can't be found.
Don't give up the search, I say.
It's never too late!
From experience I can tell you this:
in the search is the finding.
I'd tell you more,
but nothing else needs to be said.
What can't be found
is found in the searching.
Plainer than this I cannot speak.
I can iterate, re-iterate,
stupefy us all with repetition.
Instead I'll stop.
But first I'll tell you one more time:
Don't stop the searching.
What can't be found, you're finding.
