I've been thinking about a new room.
An empty room with sunlight as the only furnishing.
Windows will open or close at a touch.
Oh, all right: a chair.
I'll give it a chair,
small and wooden.
Not too hard and not too soft.
A chair Goldilocks would accept.
A floor cushion and a lotus posture
are no longer options for me.
I sit my own way:
straight but relaxed.
Alert.
Thoughts drifting
until the leash of mindfulness
tugs them back to what is—
back to my light-filled empty room
so receptive to what may come.
